About this service

Lighting the garden gives a display depth. A palm spiraled in light, a wrapped trunk beside the drive or a lit hedge along the walk turns a roofline into a whole scene, and plenty of Laguna Beach gardens have a palm or a mature tree made for it.

Trees are wrapped to follow their shape: tight spirals up a palm trunk, the main limbs of a shade tree, or the full canopy of a smaller ornamental. Hedges and shrubs can be wrapped or netted for an even glow.

  • Depth and warmth a roofline alone can't give
  • Palms, shade trees and ornamentals each wrapped to suit their shape
  • A lit path that welcomes guests to the door, or down the steps
  • Designed with the roofline as one display

What a typical job covers

Palm and trunk wraps
Evenly spaced spirals up the trunk, a natural fit for the palms found along the coast.
Canopies and limbs
Lights following the main branches, or filling the canopy of smaller trees for a soft glow.
Hedges and planting
Wrapped or netted lights for an even glow across hedges and low planting.
Paths and stairs
Lights along walkways, garden stairs and the driveway edge that lead the eye, and guests, to the front door.

What shapes the quote

  • Number, height and spread of the trees
  • Trunk only, or limbs and canopy as well
  • Length of hedges, paths and stairs
  • Distance from outdoor outlets

Good to know

  • Tall palms and large trees may need a lift. If so, it's listed on its own line in your quote.
  • Tell us about irrigation lines, slopes or delicate planting so cords and stakes avoid them.
  • Landscape lighting is usually designed together with a roofline, as one display.

Common questions

All questions
Will wrapping lights harm my trees?

Lights are wrapped loosely enough not to bind bark or branches, and they come off after the season. If a tree is newly planted or fragile, tell us and we'll suggest an alternative.

Can you light palm trees?

Yes. Palms are a natural fit for trunk wraps, and the spacing of the spiral can be tighter or looser depending on the look you want.
